Frederick William Burbidge (1847-1905) was an English gardener, botanist, artist, author and plant-collector, gardener at Kew, later curator of the Trinity College garden, Dublin. The present work is his most important botanical work '... 'The narcissus: its history and culture', (is) an important contribution to the rising cult of the daffodil' (British Gardeners, a bibliographical dictionary p. 55). The fine plates are drawn and lithographed by the author.
