One of the most attractive late Meiji works on flowers and birds and one of the very few Japanese works to render birds at such a large format. "This work is considered one of the most beautiful of the later fully colored ehon. Each volume Spring & Summer and Fall & Winter consists of 25 images. Kõno Bairei was one of the last of the artists who illustrated plants for wood-block printing and whose work is considered by critics as important.
